Art Inspired by Mystical Visions of Love and Life

Melani Payumo feels life, and then creates art. She holds on to this unusual path in producing her colourful, esoteric paintings and have over the years honed her style.

A licensed Dentist in the Philippines, Melani’s path deviated from artistic inclinations despite being singled out as gifted in the area as a child. Educated in Catholic schools all her life, teachers would time and again advise her to put to good use her God-given artistic gifts. But practicality took precedence and she pursued medicine as a career path.

Although the sciences proved to be a good provider, the time to feed the heart eventually came.

Upon the suggestion of her beloved sister, Melani took and eventually completed all the painting courses available at the Vargas Museum of the University of the Philippines. Instruction was comprehensive but personal and was under the tutelage of Fernando B. Sena, the prime mover of the Philippine art workshop scene.

Melani gravitates toward mystical, esoteric angelic themes and persuasions. She taps on a symphony of colors and sacred geometry- available when one has reached consciousness in a meditative, spiritual state.

It is said that one’s artistic methods are an articulation of what is in the heart of an artist. Although highly conceptual at times, Melani wishes that her art inspires and uplifts and celebrates the inherent goodness of life.
