Antonio Caday Ludovico
Antonio “Val” Ludovico was born on Valentine’s Day in Biñan, Laguna, which is known as the carving capital of the Philippines. His father was a renowned wood sculptor of religious statues. Surrounded by the region’s artisans, Val developed an early appreciation for craftsmanship and artistic expression.
He studied architecture at the University of Santo Tomas before moving to Canada in 1982. While his studies enhanced his technical understanding of form and structure, his creative interests went beyond blueprints. Val enjoys painting as a hobby and explores various artistic avenues such as wood carving, calligraphy, caricature drawing, and mural painting.
Nature is Val’s primary muse. He finds tranquility in depicting landscapes—from serene mountains and lush forests to ocean waves and wildlife. His work often reflects the gentle rhythms of the natural world, rendered with an impressionistic touch. Inspired by the masterpieces of Monet, Klimt, and Van Gogh, he experiments with colour, light, and texture to evoke mood and atmosphere.
As a proud member of the Dimasalang III International Artists Group, Val continues to nurture his artistic spirit. He contributes his talents to the vibrant art community through his creations and celebrates his Filipino heritage.
